Class Description

Kearney Public Schools provides toddler preschool options for children who meet specific guidelines related to income, low birth weight, premature birth, English Language Learner or other special education need.

The Bright Futures Toddler classroom serves children from the ages of eighteen months to three years. This preschool classroom runs Monday through Friday from 8:15 am until 3:00 p.m. Each day is packed with hands-on learning opportunities that are developmentally appropriate for the children in the class. The classroom is also divided into several interest areas or "centers" including blocks, music, dramatic play, art, literacy, science and puzzles and games. Teaching staff take extra care developing individualized activities that will help your child grow and develop.

The classroom is staffed with a certified early childhood teacher and two trained paraprofessionals. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the toddler program site. The teachers use The Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold concepts to plan lessons, teach, and support the students learning. Ages and Stages Screeners are used to ensure that the children are growing and learning at a developmental rate that is considered the norm.
